🦋 IC Information

Character Name: Nora Endicott (Sole Survivor)
Age: 32
Canon: Fallout 4
Canon Point: Heading into the Glowing Sea to find Virgil
Character History: Here.
Canon Abilities: Nora doesn't have any special powers. During her time in the Wasteland she's become proficient with several different types of guns, as well as learning to pick locks. She's developed a little tolerance to radiation from all the time she's spent out in the wasteland. She can be quite persuasive, something which served her well as a lawyer. She also has leadership skills after becoming the leader of both the Minutemen and the Railroad.
Inventory: VaultTec jump suit, Nate's wedding ring, her PipBoy (limited function)

🦋 Personality

Option 2:

  • Green

  • Green used to represent the well-manicured lawns of Sanctuary Hills, the shade of the trees and the new growth of spring. It was nature, life and growth, and the way that people managed and cultivated the natural world. Now, though, in the wasteland, the world is defined by the absence of green. The grass and trees still futilely try to grow, but they're brown and lifeless, almost as though the landscape itself is desaturated. Meanwhile, the green that is present is no longer the deep green of the forests and fields, but an artificial, acidic green seen on the computer terminals and in the chemicals injected to prevent from the effects of the radiation -- even the stereotypical colour associated with the radiation itself. Green has been hijacked, turned from the colour of the natural world to the colour of the very thing that has destroyed it.

  • Dead

  • Nate is dead. She had to stand there behind glass, helpless, as they shot him. She wears his wedding ring on a chain now, a symbol of their promise to each other that they would stay together forever that weighs heavily around her neck as she carries the weight of his death. His death is the first thing she saw in the new world she awoke to and it's something she struggles to set aside as she travels through it - the place they used to live and all of their old hangout spots changed irrevocably not just by the way the world has changed but by his conspicuous absence. Death has become almost normal to her in a lot of other ways, whether its the raiders she's killed or simply the amount of corpses littering the landscape, but Nate's death is like a fresh wound every day, something she can't get used to - or maybe that she's scared of getting used to, because without the pain of his loss she doesn't know what she has left of herself.

  • Long

  • Nora was frozen for over two hundred years. For the rest of the world. that's a very long time, but for her the time passed instantaneously. One moment she was looking across at her husband and son, the next she woke up a widow. The destruction of the world is relatively easy for her to accept, especially since she was there when the bombs started to fall, but what is more difficult is just how long it's been since the initial destruction happened. The world has rusted and decayed in the blink of an eye and everything she knew is so long ago that she feels like a fossil. What's more, the passing of days and weeks means little in this new world (though seasons are still a good measure of time), so it feels like she's living in one infinitely long present rather than taking steps into the future.

  • Friendly

  • Where possible, Nora has tried to keep a friendly demeanour, even while receiving inhospitality at best and aggression at worst in response. She can't really blame the residents of the Wasteland for their suspicion, but she's found that by and large going in with a friendly smile and an offer to give a helping hand has done wonders for her, to the point that she's cultivated allies all over the Commonwealth. What she won't admit to is that some of the friendliness is a mask, that on the days where she feels despair at her situation or has little patience with some of the people she has to deal with, she keeps up that demeanour because she needs every pair of eyes looking out for Shaun. When she isn't being friendly, though, it's best to keep clear of her: she has a short temper and can snap easily, losing her patience and the goodwill for those around her at the reality of the situation she's stuck in, and not hesitating when it comes to hurting or even killing those who threaten her.

  • Dance

  • She remembers the first dance at her wedding to Nate, the evenings where they'd go swing dancing, the silly dances she'd do while holding Shaun in her arms to quiet him. It was an activity that shrank the whole world down to just herself, her partner, and the beat of the music. There's still music in the wasteland, blaring out of radios and the tinny speakers in her PipBoy, but no one dances to it any more. Nora isn't sure whether they've forgotten how, or whether its simply too dangerous nowadays to allow the world to shrink so small, to risk a bullet in the back while swaying along to the beat. It's a shame, as she's sure most of her companions would be excellent dance partners (though not Macready, she's sure he has two left feet). Perhaps that's her goal in rebuilding Sanctuary -- to have a place where people feel safe enough and happy enough to dance again.

  • Child

  • She remembers the day Shaun was born, the moment he was laid in her arms as she lay there, exhausted, marvelling at the tiny life she'd created. He was so soft, laying there looking up at her, entirely dependent on her, and in that moment she felt invincible, fulfilled by motherhood like nothing else. The short months where it was the three of them feel distant, hazy, as though they were a dream that she can never return to. While she mourns her husband, the loss of her son is the much bigger wound, her role as a mother ripped from her. It eats her up that her child is growing up somewhere just out of reach, the role of mother potentially passed to someone else, and her determination in restoring that connection to her child surpasses all else for her.

  • Flower

  • There are still flowers growing in the wasteland, but they're far from pretty. Nora sees them as sickly, pale in colour, blooming like a tumour on the surface of the plant. She doesn't want to pick them, or even to look at them that closely, as if she's honest, she's a little disgusted by them - they're a symbol of how the wasteland has taken something that once was full of beauty and turned it into something wretched. She supposes that she should admire their resilience, but there's a part of her that wants to pull them all up by the roots, resenting the mockery they've become.

IC INFO

Name: Nora Endicott
Canon: Fallout 4
Canon Point: Just after having killed Kellogg
Age: 34
OU/AU/CRAU: OU - she is a customisable protagonist.

History: Wiki links for Sole Survivor and Nora.
Nora has made decisions mostly along the chaotic-good line. She doesn't think much of the Brotherhood of Steel, thinks the Minutemen have good intentions but resents having agreed to become their leader, and loves the Railroad and is giving her all to help them. The Institute are pure evil so far as she is concerned, and she wants to take them down by any means necessary. Nora is unromanced and has met all companions apart from X-6 at this point. She has already experienced the Nuka World DLC but has yet to go to Far Harbor.

Character's Fears: Nora's greatest fear is of being completely alone. In her own world, she's lost her husband, her son, and her entire way of living, and has been clinging to the fragments of the old world that are still to be found in the wasteland, as well as her determination to find her son, both of which are gone with her coming into the PotC world. She's also afraid of having no control, especially after being tricked by VaultTec and then watching Nate die in front of her while she was helpless to do anything about it. Aside from those, she's also not fond of snakes or clowns.

Character's Hopes: Her greatest longing is to be reunited with her son Shaun, and to be able to have a somewhat normal life with him. She used to hope to return to living in a world with far more order, and as she's risen in rank with the Minutemen she's found that she's hoping more and more to be in a place where she doesn't have quite so much responsibility riding on her, though she still hopes to make a difference in the world. She hopes for good health, a long life, and luxuries such as food that isn't full of radiation and a hot bath.

I intend to write up Nora's complete history at some point, but here are the key points, with a spoiler warning for the main storyline of Fallout 4:

Nora was a lawyer living in Sanctuary Hills, in the Commonwealth, in 2077. Her husband Nate was a veteran of the Sino-American war, and the two had an infant son, Shaun. When the bombs began to fall, Nora and her family headed for the local vault, Vault 111, but as soon as they arrived they were put in cryogenic stasis. Nora woke briefly in 2227 to see her husband shot and her son taken, before she was frozen once more. Waking in 2287, she emerged from the Vault to a world ruined by nuclear war. Returning to Sanctuary Hills, which is now abandoned and overgrown, she begins a life in this strange new world, carving out a settlement for herself, helping where needed, and doing all she can to find her son.

I tend to play Nora as chaotic good. She supports the Minutemen and the Railroad. In game she romanced Hancock, but I'm open to any possible romances with her as well as any and all gen CR. I'm also happy to adapt her to being an NPC in the wasteland/a general vaultdweller to play off other Sole Survivors.

Her wiki entry is here and her kink list is here.
